Colombian army’s coastguard intercepted a shipwrecked vessel carrying close to 1.5 tons of cocaine in Buenaventura on Tuesday (December 17), authorities reported.
Video distributed by the army showed three men and various black packages floating next to coastguard ships.
The boat was heading to Central America. Three men were rescued and later detained, said Tumaco Coastguard Commander Captain Andres Henao.
The confiscated cocaine, weighing approximately 1,484 kilograms (3271.6 pounds), is estimated to hold a value exceeding $50 million in the international black market, an army report detailed.
