Last week the New York State Office of Cannabis Management invited me to swing by and check out their new Legal Online Cannabis Activities Locator (LOCAL) map tool which was released today. This is a game-changing release by OCM and a hopeful sign of things to come as we move forward with regulated cannabis in New York.

The map comes in two flavors – a more complex, industry-focused version which brings most of the licensing data which OCM has into a layered map framework to slice and dice as the user sees fit in order to generate proximity reports, search licenses, and export data; and a more simple, consumer focused version which only shows information about retail dispensaries, making it the best way for folks in New York to find a regulated dispensary to shop at.
Kudos to the team at OCM that put this together. Back in the day I ran teams that built applications like this, so it’s wonderful to see effort being put into something that will have a huge impact on our industry.
