India – Bengaluru: Interstate drug peddler held with 11 kg hashish oil worth Rs 11 crore

The peddler used to bring the hashish oil through bus and train from his native village in Kottayam. Another police officer claimed that the oil was brought by dividing it into small packets of 10 grams and 1 gram each.

The police arrested an interstate drug peddler with drugs worth Rs 11 crore. The arrested peddler was carrying 11kg hashish oil with himself. Police are looking for his partners, who are expected to be in Kerala.

The arrested peddler has been identified as MR Anoop who belonged from Kerala but lived temporarily in the Sahakarnagar area of Hebbal. According to a police officer, the house was rented in someone else’s name and the rent of the flat was Rs 15,000 per month. The leader of the gang who supplied the drugs used to pay the rent for Anoop, the Times of India reported. The kingpin belonged from Kottayam in Kerala, which is the same place from where Anoop belonged, police said.

According to sources of TOI, two associates of Anoop had been arrested earlier in Udupi and Mangaluru, they were caught by the police with 214 kg of ganja. According to the police, Anoop used to bring the hashish oil through bus and train from his native village in Kottayam. Another police officer claimed that the oil was brought by dividing it into small packets of 10 grams and 1 gram each. These oil sachets were sold at big parties for high prices, the officer said.

According to CK Baba, DCP (northeast), Anoop was caught red-handed on December 4 evening under Hebbal flyover, where he was trying to sell the oil sachets. The probe is on, and a team will be going to Kerala to nab the others who are involved, the DCP said.

In another case, the Bengaluru Unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) busted contraband worth Rs 50 lakh — 3 kg of pseudoephedrine, a sympathomimetic drug — hidden in an electric guitar case on Wednesday. Reportedly, the parcel was declared as a musical instrument which was seized at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru.
