Australia: More than 450 cannabis plants seized by police in Canberra, three men to face court

Three men have been arrested after police seized 452 cannabis plants allegedly found inside homes across Canberra.

ACT Policing said officers raided homes in Amaroo, Macgregor and Ainslie yesterday, seizing the plants in the process.

The raids were part of an ongoing investigation into commercial cannabis distribution networks.

It is alleged 255 plants were discovered in one of the homes, and 197 inside another.

Two men, aged 34 and 35, have been charged with cultivating a commercial quantity of a controlled plant for sale.

A 64-year-old man has also been charged with two counts of the same offence.

All three are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today.

Photos released by police taken during the raids showed dozens of cannabis plants inside two rooms surrounded by reflective material and downlights.

Other images showed large power boards, elaborate wiring, large ventilation ducts and a bathroom containing chemical containers and a covered air vent.
