A former NHS building was converted into a large cannabis grow. Officers found the furtive factory following a tip-off.
Leicestershire Police had a large number of officers investigating Overton House, on the corner of Enderby Road and James Street in Blaby. Officers received the anonymous report at 7.20pm on Tuesday, April 26.
After visiting the property, officers found a “large number” of cannabis plants inside the building. Speaking to LeicestershireLive, a local resident said that investigators had been on the scene for two days as of Thursday evening, and that the building is a former NHS property.
They said: “Police have been investigating at a property on Enderby Road, Blaby on the corner with James Street. They have now spent two days [there].
“They’ve asked if we saw anything suspicious, but that’s about it. Forensics were there on Wednesday. Thursday there was even more police activity. Very unusual for here, it’s a former NHS property.”
Police confirmed that a 41-year-old man was arrested inside the building, but he has since been released with no further action, and enquiries are ongoing. Online records show the property was previously used by Macmillan Cancer Support.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “At around 7.20pm on Tuesday (26 April) a report was received of a possible cannabis grow at premises in Enderby Road, Blaby. “Officers attended and found a large number of cannabis plants inside the building.
“A 41-year-old man was arrested inside the building. He was later released with no further action. Enquiries are continuing.”
