Yesterday, officers from our neighbourhood policing team searched a property on Four Riggs, in Darlington, following information from a member of the public.
Inside, they discovered more than 360 cannabis plants, along with extensive cultivation equipment and evidence of an organised, and sophisticated grow.
To illegally tap into the electricity supply, the suspects had also dug up the road, and covered it back over with tarmac once the power had been connected.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this is incredibly dangerous, not just for the perpetrator but also for those living in the local community.
Illegally tampering with electricity can cause electrocution or a fire which could cause life-changing injuries, or at worst be fatal.
Experts have since attended the scene and made the building safe, and the cannabis plants have been destroyed.
