$10.2M worth of cocaine seized by US Coast Guard in Puerto Rico over the weekend

Three Dominican Republic nationals are accused of trying to smuggle more than 900 pounds of cocaine north of Puerto Rico over the weekend.

A fast boat, described as a “go-fast” vessel by the coast guard, was spotted by a patrol aircraft monitoring the area, according to a press release.

Officials said twelve bales found on the blue-and-white boat ended up testing positive for cocaine, totaling 901 pounds.

Lt. DeVonte Weems, Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Napier commanding officer called the bust, “a great team effort with seamless coordination between Coast Guard surface, aerial, and shoreside units that resulted in a successful interdiction.
