JOB DESCRIPTION

The Executive Director serves as the administrative head of the DCR and has centralized authority over the development, administration, operation, and management of the department, and is responsible for directing all department activities and operations which regulate and promote the interest and issues affecting cannabis regulation within the City of Los Angeles.
This position serves as a liaison with other public and private agencies to provide cooperative action on cannabis regulation issues and policy reform. Further, this position is responsible for City of Los Angeles cannabis regulation laws and procedures, and oversees the clerical, accounting, cost and budgetary control, organization and methods control, purchasing and personnel management of the department.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field; An MBA or other advanced degree highly desirable.
  • Significant (5+ years) of professional management experience, including administrative, human resource, and/or budget formulation responsibilities, of a complex agency that issues licenses, permits, or performs similar operations. Experience providing excellent customer service while working with diverse interests groups and stakeholders is highly desired.
  • Experience developing and implementing a Diversity Equity Inclusion program is highly desired.
