3 arrested after police seize hundreds of plants in illegal Maine marijuana bust
CORNVILLE (WGME) — Three people were arrested on Wednesday after a massive illegal marijuana bust in Somerset County.
According to the Morning Sentinel, over 750 plants and 90 pounds of processed marijuana buds were seized at a home on West Ridge Road in Cornville.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested 75-year-old Huansheng Mai, 63-year-old Yuling Mei, and 68-year-old Yiming Hu.
The Morning Sentinel reports the trio was each charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana and unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs with more than 500 plants.
According to officials, the arrests were made after a year-long investigation into unlicensed cannabis farming in the area.
Investigators say it’s not clear if this growing operation is connected to other marijuana drug busts reported over the last month.
