Some 3.7 tons of hashish were seized aboard a speedboat during an operation in international waters south of Portugal, which resulted in the arrest of two Spaniards and two Moroccans , the National Maritime Authority (AMN) announced on Wednesday.
The arrests of the four suspected traffickers took place during a surveillance operation carried out by the Portuguese Navy, the police maritime and the air force, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, said the AMN in a press release.
The boat, which was carrying “106 bales of hashish corresponding to 3.7 tons,” was boarded after being spotted by an Air Force plane, according to the Maritime Authority.
The four suspects, along with the boat and the drug, were was handed over to the Judicial Police who opened an investigation.
