A 28-year-old gambling addict who was involved in an attempt to import 2.4 tonnes of cocaine into Western Australia — linked to a Mexican drug cartel and worth an estimated $100 million — has been sentenced to more than 14 years’ jail.
In January last year Kenny Chen, from Sydney, flew to Perth believing he was going to be paid around $200,000 to warehouse some of the drugs while he awaited further instructions from people higher up in the criminal syndicate behind the attempted importation.
