Couple arrested over cannabis seizures

A man and a woman will face court tomorrow after police seized drugs and cash from their Paralowie home.

On Tuesday 25 June, Northern District CIB searched a Paralowie home and located 40 kilograms of dried cannabis and $12,000 in cash.

A 35-year-old man from Paralowie and a 31-year-old woman from Paralowie were both arrested and charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis, possessing prescribed equipment and money laundering.

They pair were further charged for their alleged role in three cannabis ‘grow houses’ previously located by police at Parafield Gardens, Smithfield Plains and Elizabeth Downs.

The man was charged with cultivating cannabis at a Parafield Gardens address in February where 65 cannabis plants growing hydroponically were located. He is also charged with cultivating cannabis at a Smithfield Plains address in April where 165 cannabis plants were located growing hydroponically.

The woman was also charged in relation to the Parafield Gardens seizure as well as cultivating and trafficking cannabis at an Elizabeth Downs address in January where 107 cannabis plants were located growing hydroponically together with 25kgs of dried cannabis.

Police also seized a Mercedes Benz under the Criminal Assets Confiscation Act.

Both were refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
