FREDERICTON (GNB) – Peace officers with the Department of Justice and Public Safety recently arrested two people and seized contraband cannabis products from a dispensary in Saint John.

A search warrant was executed on June 19 at Gitpu Trading Post, 91 Russell St.

A 30-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both of Saint John, are expected to face charges under the federal Cannabis Act. The two employees were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Peace officers seized:

•           two kilograms of dried cannabis

•           170 grams of hashish

•           two vape pens containing THC

•           34 jars and packages of cannabis shatter

•           42 cannabis distillate cartridges

•           29 cannabis food products

•           18 jars of cannabis resin

•           $3,710.60 in cash

New Brunswickers are reminded that there are also penalties for those who purchase and possess illegal cannabis, not just for those who sell and distribute it. Cannabis NB and approved private retail partners are the only legal retailers of cannabis products in New Brunswick. A list of approved private retailers is available online.
