POLICY ALERT:
The Missouri Cannabis Industry Needs Your Help!
MoCann Submitted Our Official Rescheduling Comments to DEA/DOJ Today, Please Submit Yours Before July 22nd Deadline
|
The DEA’s proposed rule to move cannabis from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act to Schedule III is open for public comment until July 22. MoCannTrade just today submitted our official Missouri industry formal comments in support of this important shift in federal policy As articulated in past news articles about this issue, MoCannTrade supports rescheduling because it recognizes cannabis as medicine, it allows for greater research of marijuana, and it treats cannabis small businesses like every other small business by removing the punitive 280E tax code. Our comments also highlighted some of the Missouri cannabis program’s great successes; the important role state-based regulations play in ensuring a safe, compliant program; and how the cannabis industry is supporting local economies, those with past, nonviolent offenses, and veterans across our state. Attached here and below is our full formal comment response as a letter submitted via DEA federal register portal. We encourage our members and industry participants to review our comments and consider sending a version of your own comments in support of rescheduling for the obvious short and long term benefits it offers to cannabis business owners and the industry as a whole. We have also included a boiler plate template for your response provided by our federal policy partners at ATACH. Please review and use the portions you see appropriate to your specific feedback and response. This is an important issue, and your voice is greatly needed.
We need your help, please submit your formal comment here before the July 22nd deadline. |
