Trinidad & Tobago: Over $31m worth of high-grade marijuana seized in Guapo

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says in a landmark operation earlier today, it successfully seized nearly $32 million worth of high-grade marijuana, marking a significant victory against drug trafficking networks.
Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher commended the dedicated officers whose efforts made this breakthrough possible.
“This operation, while executed within hours, is the culmination of countless hours of intelligence gathering and meticulous surveillance,” stated the Commissioner.
“Our officers have dealt a substantial blow to this drug trafficking network, and we remain relentless in our pursuit of these criminals.”
In a statement on Friday, the TTPS said a series of coordinated intelligence operations resulted in the arrest of several associates of a drug trafficking network based in South Trinidad and the seizure of large amounts of narcotics which consisted of high-grade marijuana and cocaine. Earlier this week the TTPS arrested a key suspect and seized over $4.5 m worth of cocaine infused in hair products.
Recent intelligence revealed plans by the drug network to relocate narcotics from a stash in Guapo.
The TTPS’s rigorous surveillance and intelligence efforts pinpointed the stash in a secluded, forested beach-type area along Vance River Road, Guapo.
Officers maintained close observation and identified key network associates as they attempted to move the narcotics.
With operational support from Southern Division Police, officers swiftly converged on the location and secured the area last night.
The team apprehended two primary associates and confiscated the narcotics.
The suspects, along with the seized drugs, were transported to Marabella Police Station.
