A man in Lanzarote has been ordered to prison after the National Police discovered 45 kilograms of hashish and 10 kilograms of cocaine worth almost a million euros, hidden in his car boot inside boxes of potatoes and onions.
The arrest follows a year-long investigation, which began in mid-2023, into the man who, until now, had no criminal record.
According to a statement from the Canary Islands’ Police Headquarters, issued today (Monday), the police operation concluded with the suspect’s arrest and the seizure of significant quantities of drugs.
Along with the hashish and cocaine, officers also found 102 grams of “pink cocaine,” a potent designer drug known as Tusi.
The man, a resident of Arrecife, has now been charged with drug trafficking and has been brought before a judge, who ordered his immediate imprisonment as the investigation continues.
