Headset Says Everybody Was Quaffing Weed Drinks On Election Day

OK, not everybody but there was definitely a spike….. 14.2%

We presume there were various factions, those who knew the outcome and wanted to block it out, those who just thought fuck it let’s get off our heads and see what decision we make when we get in the booth (bad move!) and those who decided vote or get stoned…. get stoned…….

Marijuana product sales jumped nearly 6% on Election Day compared to the previous three Tuesdays, according to Seattle-based cannabis industry analytics provider Headset.

Nearly every product category experienced an increase in sales in the 15 regulated U.S. marijuana markets tracked by Headset.

THC-infused beverages were the product of choice for many cannabis consumers on Election Day; sales in that category jumped 14.2% on Tuesday, the biggest increase in any segment.

Beverages typically account for 1% or 2% of retail sales, although infused beverage sales spike during the holidays, when social gatherings increase, according to Headset Data Analyst Mitchell Laferla.

“In 2024, the Beverage category saw the largest spike in total sales across all categories on 4/20, 4th of July, and Labor Day,” Laferla told MJBizDaily via email.

“This trend held true on Election Day 2024 where Beverages (+14.2%) saw the largest lift in sales over second place Edible (+8.3%) compared to a typical Tuesday.

“Despite their status as a smaller category, Beverages have shown their appeal in social settings.”

Here’s a look at other sales gains across product categories on Nov. 5:
