DVR launches awareness campaign on cannabis in road traffic
2024-11-09 | The German Road Safety Council (DVR) has launched a new prevention campaign under the motto “High doesn’t drive – high lets you drive ”. The aim is to educate young road users in particular about the dangers of cannabis in road traffic. A recent DVR survey shows that half of 18 to 24-year-olds do not understand the absolute ban on consumption for young drivers. In addition, 40% of respondents in the survey are said to have indicated that they want to consume more cannabis as a result of partial legalization.
DVR President Manfred Wirsch warns of a possible increase in traffic accidents under the influence of cannabis. The campaign is supported by celebrities such as actor Wotan Wilke Möhring . The campaign, which will initially run for two years, will be disseminated via various media channels and supported by the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) and other partners.
