Two men facing major drug trafficking charges, following a hashish seizure last year, will have their case heard in the High Court’s May Assizes.
Deshawn Lattibeaudiere, 23, and Denfield Roberts, 49, were arrested after police discovered 52.9 pounds of hashish during a raid in Jennings on May 12, 2024.
The seized drugs have an estimated street value of EC $600,415, which represents one of the larger drug seizures in recent local law enforcement operations.
The defendants are facing multiple charges, including possession of the drug, intent to transfer drugs, being concerned with the supply of hashish and drug trafficking.
During Tuesday’s hearing Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel processed eight exhibits to be used as evidence in the upcoming High Court proceedings.
The prosecution has identified seven potential witnesses for the case which could be called anytime from May, at which point the accused will enter their pleas.
A trial will follow if they plead not guilty to the charges.
