Role Title: Director of Education

Reports To: Zendo Project Executive Director

Type: Full Time (40hr/wk)

Location: This is a remote position. Location in California is ideal but not required.

Position Description: 

The Director of Education is responsible for overseeing the continued growth, enhancement, and implementation of all Zendo Project educational offerings, both in person and virtual. Program initiatives include the Sitting and Integration Training (SIT) courses, event volunteer training, specialized training curriculum for crisis response teams and other professionals, educational materials, curriculum development, and educational outreach.

The Director of Education’s primary responsibility is to design and implement Zendo Project’s education strategy in partnership with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Zendo Project’s senior leadership team, and training faculty.  With a focus on community-centric education and risk reduction, the Director of Education will promote awareness of Zendo Project’s mission and programs and strategically grow the organization’s impact through delivering high-quality education. The ideal candidate will be motivated, independent, professional, and organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We are looking for someone who has experience in designing and growing education programs, ideally in the mental health or psychedelic fields, who is excited to build the organization’s education capacity, and who is deeply passionate about the mission of the Zendo Project.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning (~30%)

  • Create and implement a comprehensive annual education program strategy tailored to the organization’s needs and strategic plan
  • Set education program goals, and develop strategies to meet these goals effectively
  • Manage the program budget. Track expenses, analyze education costs, and evaluate the return on investment of various education initiatives
  • Responsible for driving program revenue in partnership with the Marketing team. Work collaboratively to design marketing campaigns and incentives to reach sales goals.
  • Research and identify potential education program opportunities. Evaluate these opportunities to ensure alignment with the organization’s mission and objectives
  • Analyze data to identify trends, assess the success of the program, and make data-driven decisions to optimize education strategies

Leadership & Management (~25%)

  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, including board members, training faculty, volunteers, program managers, and external partners to align education efforts with the organization’s overall mission and initiatives
  • Supervise the Education Department team and training faculty. Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to support professional development
  • Identify, recruit, and support onboarding for new training faculty
  • Serve on Zendo Project’s leadership team, and participate in long-range planning and the design and implementation of programs and projects

Program Operations  (~25%)

  • Plan and execute education campaigns including current and new course offerings and training for event volunteers. Coordinate logistics, marketing, and ensure all aspects of education activities run smoothly, including overseeing teams of contractors and/or volunteers as needed
  • Create and manage education projects and campaigns via management systems including G-suite, Airtable, Asana, Slack, and others
  • Lead curriculum development initiatives in a collaborative and team-based environment. Direct planning and refinement of curriculum for all training offerings, leveraging contractors and subject matter experts to ensure excellence in curriculum delivery
  • Manage Continuing Education Credit processes for all qualified educational offerings
  • Attend and monitor training course offerings to assess curriculum delivery and provide constructive feedback to training faculty as needed

Communication & Reporting (~15%)

  • Represent the organization as a spokesperson through presentations at conferences and other outreach opportunities
  • Working with the Director of Development, effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and education program goals to existing and potential donors
  • Partner with the Marketing team to develop compelling communication campaigns and marketing collateral to achieve enrollment goals for the Education Program
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and the Zendo Project leadership team to develop compelling education materials including proposals, reports, email newsletters, social media content, and online campaigns

Miscellaneous (~5%)

  • Other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience managing educational programs, preferably in the psychedelic and/or mental health fields
  • 3+ years supervising teams with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
  • Master’s degree or higher, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience developing curriculum and implementing and scaling  educational programs, preferably in a psychedelic and/or mental health environment
  • Training or Certification  in Instructional Design, E-Learning  or similar preferred

  • Technical fluency in common office software programs and computer hardware
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for events and/or meetings

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full time, non-exempt, at will position. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000-$115,000 based on experience.

  • $600 per month mental health reimbursement for therapist/counselor costs
  • $150 per month home office stipend
  • 401k benefits with a 100% match, up to 10% of annual salary available after 90 days of employment
