COUTTS, ALBERTA, Canada — Canada Border Services Agency officers seized 238 pounds of cocaine at the Coutts port of entry in southern Alberta across the border from Sweetgrass, Montana.
Authorities seized the drug after examining a commercial transport vehicle, and arrested the suspect, Arshdeep Singh, 26, of Calgary.
Singh now faces the following charges:
- Importation of a controlled substance contrary to section 6(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Singh will appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on May 7.
