Portugal: Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre works with companies to launch course in medical cannabis production

Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (IPP) announced the opening of a course dedicated to the production of medical cannabis in a greenhouse, as early as next school year. This is a higher technical-professional training CTeSP level 5, to be held in two years (4 semesters), dedicated to “Cannabis Sativa” production and processing technologies, and and starts in the school year 2025/26 at the School of Biosciences of Elvas / Portalegre. Registration for the first phase is now open, but there are only 15 vacancies.

The great bet of the Polytechnic of Portalegre is “to train students in the field of modern technologies of production and processing of Cannabis sativa in a controlled environment”, explained to CannaReporter® Jose Telo da Gama, from the Department of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences of IPP, professor and course coordinator. “The training will be very focused on learning ‘in greenhouse’, with a very large component of indoor and touching also on billboard which, for us [agronomes], is very simple”, he said.
