Malkangiri: A number of Maoist posters resurfaced at different places in Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district on Sunday.
The posters were put up in Papluru and Kurmanur panchayats. Locals informed the matter to police this morning after seeing the posters.
The posters have opposed the ganja cultivation in the district and accused Malkangiri police of protecting the hemp growers.
The extremists also warned police of dire consequences if the force continues to do so.
While the local police is taking Rs 1 lakh inducement from the hemp growers, the district headquarter police demands Rs 3 lakh. Similarly, the Excise Department officials are also taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from hemp farmers, one of the posters read.
It also warned the police to stop such practices immediately.
The district administration should encourage farmers in the area to grow paddy, finger millet and little millet instead, it suggested.
