In yet another sign of how the legal cannabis industry is gaining mainstream approval, Tim Leslie, a 20-year veteran of Amazon, has just been named CEO of Leafly. This is a notable hire as Leafly is a popular site that helps patients and consumers choose which cannabis strain would be best for them based on consumer reviews. Headquartered in Seattle, Leafly is owned by Privateer Holdings, a cannabis-focused private equity firm. (Privateer also owns Canadian medical cannabis producer Tilray).
Leslie, who most recently served as Vice President of Amazon Prime Video International, said he was drawn to Leafly after learning about the opportunity. What especially excited him was the site’s rapid growth. “The health of the business is stronger than ever before,” he said. “That’s a testament to the strength of the brand, the talent of the team and the utility of the platform.”
