Police storm into cannabis farm in Derbyshire next to village shop

Police raided a large-scale cannabis farm which had been put in place in a Derbyshire village.

Officers forced their way into a property in Main Street, Netherseal, after receiving information about a potential cannabis farm.

The raid, which was conducted on Wednesday, November 3, uncovered a farm growing cannabis with a street value of £150,000.

In total, more than 200 plants were found inside the property, with police finding that those responsible had bypassed electricity from two different locations to power the grow.

A man and woman who were inside the property were both arrested and police are continuing to investigate.

The operation was carried out by the Swadlincote Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), which is part of Derbyshire police.

Sergeant Tarj Nizzer, of Swadlincote Police SNT, said: “A lot of hard work has gone into planning this warrant. This is one the biggest grows found in South Derbyshire with a street value of £150.000.

“This was clearly funded for criminality purposes only, they did not care about the dangerous fire hazard situation they put the other residents in.
