ABC News Australia: Queensland men caught with 70kg of cocaine on alleged cross-country drug run face Kalgoorlie court

Two Queensland men arrested on the Nullarbor with an alleged 70 kilograms of cocaine in a trailer have been granted bail, despite WA Police raising concerns about them being a flight risk.

The men, 28-year-old Troy Boxsell and Nathan Richard Davies, 30, faced Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court on Thursday each charged with possession of prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply.

They appeared via video link from Hakea Prison and neither entered pleas.

The court heard they were arrested on June 9 by Eucla Police after being stopped on the Eyre Highway while driving a Ford Ranger and towing a trailer with Queensland registration plates.

Police allege they collected the drugs from a house at Esperance on WA’s south coast on June 8, where seven shopping bags containing the cocaine were loaded into the trailer.

The Transnational and Serious Organised Crime squad has taken charge of the case.
