Ads posted in Big Bear for ‘magic’ mushrooms lead deputies to $200,000 drug seizure in San Diego

After several complaints about advertisements for psilocybin mushrooms, commonly known as “magic mushrooms,” for sale being posted around Big Bear Lake, San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies traced the operation to San Diego, where deputies located the source, finding $200,000 worth of illegal mushrooms on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Deputies discovered 15 pounds of mushrooms and 185 pounds of various psilocybin products, including chocolates, gummies and capsules. They also found a large amount of money and “items indicative of narcotic sales,” according to a news release from sheriff’s department officials in Big Bear.

The department put the street value of the mushrooms and related products at around $200,000.
