Alert – “analyzing the feasibility of establishing a standing committee to evaluate cannabinoids and cannabis-derived products, for the purpose of determining and making recommendations regarding their safety profiles and potential for intoxication.”

To All Interested Parties:

Colorado Senate Bill 23-271 requires the Executive Director of the Department of Revenue to submit a report to the General Assembly analyzing the feasibility of establishing a standing committee to evaluate cannabinoids and cannabis-derived products, for the purpose of determining and making recommendations regarding their safety profiles and potential for intoxication.

To develop this report, the Division has contracted with a research team at the University of Colorado – Boulder that will connect with experts in this field and other individuals specifically identified in the bill. Additionally, the Division will be holding two public stakeholder meetings to seek input and feedback on targeted questions to further inform the report. The first will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 2 – 4 p.m. The second will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 2 – 4 p.m. The meetings will be hybrid with both in-person and virtual options. Meeting agendas, which will include targeted questions for consideration, will be sent approximately one week prior to each meeting. Please see below for meeting details.
