Alert- Oregon: Commission Approves Rules for Marijuana Batch Tagging

PORTLAND, Ore. – Today at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting the Board of Commissioners of the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission finalized action on rules allowing for batch tagging for legal marijuana production.

Commissioners also started additional rule making for cannabis and alcohol related to recent legislative action, received an update on construction plans for OLCC’s new warehouse, and received a review of the agency’s projected revenue generation. The Commission also approved stipulated settlement agreements for alcohol and cannabis licensees.

The OLCC, in conjunction with the state’s Cannabis Tracking System provider, will provide the option for batch tagging of cannabis plants by marijuana producers. The industry-requested option will allow the tracking of multiple plants (up to 100) to be done with a single tag, instead of individual tags for each immature plant.

The initial rulemaking action on the 2024 Marijuana Bill and Technical Package will align with House Bill 4121, and the Alcohol Bill and CAMP Implementation rule making will align with House Bill 4138. CAMP is OLCC’s new licensing system, formally known as the Cannabis and Alcohol Management Program.

OLCC’s new warehouse planned for construction in Canby has gone through some design phase changes which were provided to the Board. In a presentation about the agency’s budget, the Commission also learned that distilled spirits sales have plateaued mirroring national trends signaling a decrease in alcohol consumption.

The Commission also ratified one stipulated settlement agreement for an alcohol licensee. Detailed information on the specific case below can be found on the OLCC website:
