Australia – NSW: Hydroponic cannabis bust in Tweed

Police have confiscated equipment they say was being used for a hydroponic cannabis station set up in a Tweed Heads garage.

Tweed Byron Detective Chief Inspector Dave Silversides told The Echo on Friday morning investigations into the growing station were ongoing and any related charges were yet to be laid.

A 58-year-old woman was initially arrested at the home garage address in Kirkwood Road, Tweed Heads South, when police carried out a search warrant there around 2.30 Thursday afternoon, Chief Insp. Silversides said.

But she was later released without charge and was reportedly cooperating with police investigations.

Chief Insp. Silversides said the hydroponic set-up was ‘organised’.

Juvenile arrested in armed robbery investigation

Police coincidentally found a wanted male juvenile at the same address, when they carried out the search warrant, the chief inspector said.

The youth was wanted in relation to investigations into an armed robbery in March within the Tweed Byron Police District.

The boy was reportedly released on bail and due to face Tweed Heads Local Court later today.
