Australia – NSW Police Report: Prohibited drugs and cash seized during vehicle stop; man charged – Riverina PD

A man has been charged over the alleged supply of prohibited drugs, following a vehicle stop in the state’s Riverina region yesterday.

About 10am (Thursday 2 December 2021), officers attached to Cootamundra Target Action Group were conducting proactive patrols along the Snowy Mountain Highway, Tumut, when they stopped a Toyota Corolla for random roadside testing.

Officers spoke to the driver – a 26-year-old man – before he returned a positive result to a random drug test. The results will undergo further analysis.

A subsequent search of the vehicle, the driver and the passengers – a man and woman – was conducted.

During a search of the 41-year-old male passenger, police seized almost $2000 cash inside a bag, 25.5g of methylamphetamine and 12.7g of cannabis.

The estimated potential street value of the prohibited drugs is more than $8000.

The older man was arrested and taken to Tumut Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (x3), supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, possess prohibited drug, and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime – serious indictable offence.

The Tumut man was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 3 December 2021).

Inquiries are continuing.
