Authorities seize over 50 pounds of cannabis on Mississippi interstate

PONTOTOC CO., Miss. (WTVA) — Ty’jhai Davis, 21, of Loganville, Georgia, and Cally Pusey, 23, of Covington, Georgia, are accused of drug trafficking after a traffic stop on Interstate 22 in Mississippi.

Over 50 pounds of marijuana was found in the vehicle.

“When [narcotics officers] made the stop, they smelled the odor of marijuana and, upon searching, this is what they found,” Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask said.

The sheriff says this is nothing new for their department.

“We’ve had several – 150-pound, 230-pound [busts] – in the last few months,” the sheriff said. “You know, they’re running dope pretty good from other places down that main four-lane highway.”

The sheriff has increased patrols on roads like Interstate 22 to make law enforcement presence known and attempt to stop drug trafficking.
