British woman charged following cocaine seizure at Norman Manley International Airport

A British woman is to face the court next week, after narcotics police reportedly seized cocaine from her at the Norman Manley International Airport on Friday.

She is 43-year-old Toinette Carew, of Flaming Road in Essex, England.

Carew is charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, taking steps to export cocaine and conspiracy to export cocaine.

Reports are that Carew was being screened at the security search area of the airport, when anomalies were detected.

She was further searched and a cylindrical parcel, wrapped in masking tape, was found on her body.

The parcel was cut open in her presence, and found to contain what appeared to be cocaine weighing approximately half a pound.

Carew was later arrested and charged.

Carew is to appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court, on Thursday, May 30.
