California: Raids result in cannabis plants being seized and properties shut down

Two houses in Los Banos, Calif. that were being used as illegal, indoor grow-ops were in such bad shape that they have been condemned.

The Los Banos Fire Department took the step to condemn the homes “due to obvious hazards” shortly after a joint team of police, fire and homeland security officials executed separate search warrants and found a total of 2,753 cannabis plants inside on Mar. 2.

As has become a common occurrence with illegal indoor grows, both houses were diverting power from Pacific Gas & Electric, notes a statement from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

The thousands of plants were eradicated and the 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) of finished product taken for destruction, the MCSO reports.
