CO Dept of Agriculture: Licenses, Registration & Renewals Update

As a courtesy to our Registrants we want to send a reminder to send in your application well in advance of your expiration date should you choose to re-register your land area when your current registration expires.

Due to increased volume,  We are recommending that you send in your application about 60 days ahead of your expiration date  to ensure that you don’t have a lapse that results in a  ILLEGAL  grow for the time period in between expiration and your new registration being issued.

You can plant under your current registration, but if you will not harvest prior to expiration, then your crop will not be afforded the protections of the program if your new registration is not issued in time to avoid a lapse.

We can not expedite applications. There are approximately 1000 registrations expiring in the coming 3-4 months, and record numbers of new registrants joining the program.  Everyone is equally anxious to plant, and many will be in the same situation of having expiring registrations that they do not want to lapse.  We will process all applications in the order that we receive them.  There are no short-cuts to the application process for people that have been in the program before. We can not “re-use” your previous years application, maps, or any other documents. State legislation requires that you re-apply each year.

We suggest you take the time to review the updated FAQ’s posted to our website
on the General Information page.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!
RENEWING YOUR REGISTRATION: DOES MY INDUSTRIAL HEMP REGISTRATION AUTOMATICALLY RENEW?
No, Industrial hemp registrations expire 365 days after issuance. Registration do not renew.
According to State legislation, you will need to reapply for an industrial hemp registration annually by submitting a new application and applicable fees. It is highly recommended that you submit your application at least 60 days prior to the expiration date of your current registration or you may have a lapse. Due to volume, and all applicants being equally anxious to receive their registration, we are unable to expedite the processing. It will likely take about 45+ days to process any application. We cannot transfer previous year’s information over into your new application for you. We cannot use the same map from your previous file. Even if none of your information or registered land area has changed a new application is required annually. Please be sure to print the most recent version of the application forms our our website when applying. We update our forms each year to keep current with changing rules and legislation. Old forms may be returned.
