the state’s Department of Regulatory Agencies has released a preliminary outline of healing center facilitator requirements.
Healing centers are not clearly defined quite yet but are anticipated to be locations where people can buy, use, learn about and distribute natural medicine like psychedelic mushrooms, DMT, ibogaine and mescaline.
The general requirements are straightforward: To open a natural medicine facility, the applicant must be over 21 years old, provide proof of Basic Life Support or equivalent certification (such as CPR), and not have any felonies.
Anyone who obtains a facilitator license is “authorized to provide natural medicine services to those participants who do not have certain physical or behavioral health conditions,” according to the draft rules. It also limits the license holder from giving natural medicine services to anyone taking lithium or antipsychotic medications.
Those conditions include cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, diseases of the liver, seizure disorders, severe chronic medical illness, terminal illness, severe suicidal behavior, severe and current PTSD, psychosis, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders and bipolar disorder.
The draft regulations say that prospective participants in taking psychotropic medication must obtain medical and behavioral health clearance from a registered physician.
