CT: Trumbull Prevention Partnership was awarded $57,000 grant for youth cannabis prevention

The Trumbull Prevention Partnership, or TPAUD, plans to use a new $57,000 grant toward youth cannabis prevention.

TPAUD received the funding through the Youth Cannabis Prevention — Cannabis Coalition Grant from the The Hub at Catalyst CT, one of the state’s five Regional Behavioral Health Action Organizations. The grant is funded by the State Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

“We’re really excited about this grant,” said TPAUD Prevention Director Melissa McGarry. “It allows us to continue the work we’ve been doing since 2014.”

TPAUD was one of two coalitions in Region One to be awarded the grant, the other being Positive Directions in Westport, There were 10 other awards granted across the state.

McGarry said she and TPAUD’s Program Coordinator Kiersten Naumann can use the grant over the next two years to curate social media marketing and create events to spread awareness about substances, such as cannabis, along with supporting youth and young adults.
