Danish drug trafficking suspect Mike Gerner Larsen arrested in Istanbul

Mike Gerner Larsen, an international fugitive wanted by Interpol on charges of drug trafficking, was apprehended in Istanbul during a joint operation by Turkish authorities.

The operation, codenamed “Kuyu-38,” was carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department’s Anti-Narcotic Crimes, Intelligence, and Immigrant Smuggling and Border Gates Branch Directorates, in coordination with the Interpol-Europol Department and the Directorate of Migration Management.

Larsen was arrested in the Başakşehir district of Istanbul. He is suspected of smuggling cocaine to Denmark with a criminal network.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Interior emphasized its commitment to combating international organized crime, vowing to apprehend all individuals involved in cross-border criminal activities, regardless of international bulletins. “We will not tolerate international organized crime organizations and poison dealers who disturb the peace of our people,” the ministry stated, commending the Interpol-Europol Department, Migration Management, and the police officers involved.
