Four jailed after police uncover £510k cannabis ‘factory’

BBC

Four men who set up a drugs “factory” in Huddersfield have been jailed.

Police officers found 670 cannabis plants worth £510,000 at a former commercial building on Blackmoorfoot Road during a raid in March.

Enea Bajrami, Ervin Jamaku, Florin Cena and Denald Pashja, all of Blackmoorfoot Road, were jailed at Leeds Crown Court on 22 May.

Insp Andy Barraclough, from West Yorkshire Police, said: “It was clearly a significant operation which could produce drugs worth many hundreds of thousands of pounds”.

He added: “The closure of this factory and the conviction of the four men producing cannabis there will undoubtedly have been a blow to the organised criminals who financed and were expecting revenue from it.

“All such cannabis farm closures are a blow to criminals and we want to thank members of the public who continue to supply us with information and intelligence about drugs production in Huddersfield.”

Bajrami, 25, and Jamaku, 22, were both sentenced to one year and three months in prison for production of a Class B drug.

Cena, 23, was jailed for one year, and Pashja, 26, was jailed for eight months for the same charge.
