Why does France refuse to legalize medical cannabis?
Medical cannabis is still illegal in France today, even though it is authorized in over 20 countries in Europe.
Begun in March 2021, an experiment that was supposed to last 2 years was to lead to a generalization in 2023. However, due to the inaction or even the blockage of the DGS and the Ministry of the Interior, the experiment was extended in 2023 and should be extended again this year, if it is not simply abandoned. Its assessment, carried out in 2022, nevertheless described the prescription circuit tested as “feasible and operational”.
So, what is blocking real access to cannabis for seriously ill people today? Why can’t we legalize a medical product for people who are suffering?
