German Cannabis Business Assoc Says Over 280 Applications  Now Received From Cultivation Associations

08/31/2024 | Applications for the establishment of cannabis cultivation associations are possible in Germany from July 2024. According to n-tv, over 280 applications have been submitted nationwide so far, but only a few have been approved. North Rhine-Westphalia is leading the way with 69 applications. Initial approvals have been granted in Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Berlin and Rhineland-Palatinate. KrautInvest reported 295 applications received.The responsible authorities usually criticize missing or inadequate documentation, safety and health concepts, non-compliant articles of association according to the Cannabis Act, missing association registrations or insufficient certificates of good conduct.

Heinrich Wieker from the Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Cannabis Anbauvereinigungen (BCAv) emphasizes: “The application includes certificates of good conduct and extracts from the commercial register, names of paid members, CanG-compliant statutes, health and youth protection concept, safety concept, grow concept incl. building permit for use, proof of prevention officer qualification, possibly a description of the dispensary, risk analyses, laboratory analyses, transport concept, electrical and structural approvals, overall approval. It can be a few pages long.”

Vanessa Kulik, trainer for addiction prevention and certification auditor, emphasizes that the concepts are often inadequate and require a comprehensive approach to prevention and youth protection.
