The new legal limit for cannabis in road traffic of 3.5 nanograms of THC per milliliter of blood applies with immediate effect. Anyone who exceeds this value risks a 500 euro fine and a one-month driving ban. For mixed consumption with alcohol, the fine increases to 1000 euros. For novice drivers and under 21-year-olds, there is a complete ban on cannabis during the two-year probationary period.
The new law comes into force in the context of the partial legalization of cannabis and is intended to contribute to road safety through clear rules. MDR AKTUELL asked toxicologist Dr. Fabian Pitter Steinmetz about the new limit, testing options and tips on how to behave.
