Guyanese national sentenced in New Jersey for cocaine trafficking

A New Jersey federal judge has handed down a 60-month prison sentence to a Guyanese national, Dennis “Death” Edwards, for his involvement in a conspiracy to smuggle drugs into the US.

Court records reveal that Edwards, 38, was implicated in a 2012 scheme to bring cocaine into the country via cruise ships.

Beyond his 5-year prison term, US District Judge Noel Hillman ordered Edwards to undergo three years of supervised release.
