Harris Bricken Appoints 5 To Partnership

Harris Bricken’s New Partners 

Jihee Ahn (Portland/Los Angeles/Seattle – Partner. Jihee chairs Harris Bricken’s Dispute Resolution/Litigation Practice Group, where she mostly handles complex international and domestic litigation and arbitration disputes. Jihee was recently named as a California Super Lawyer 2023 Rising Stars and, prior by Law360 as one of only five Top Attorneys Under 40 in International Arbitration.  

Since she joined Harris Bricken in 2019, Jihee has obtained a full defense decision on behalf of a multinational pharmaceuticals company in AAA arbitration; secured an eight-figure international settlement on behalf of a foreign country, obtained a seven-figure settlement on behalf of an Oregon business against a Chinese government agency; and secured a favorable settlement on behalf of 88 foreign plaintiffs against a prominent U.S. bank in federal court litigation. Jihee is licensed in California, Oregon, and Washington. 

Jonathan Bench (Salt Lake City – Partner) Jonathan chairs the firm’s international transactions group and is the managing attorney of the Salt Lake City office. Jonathan was for three straight years awarded a Corporate Law Rising Star recognition from Super Lawyers followed by two International Law Rising Star awards.   

Jonathan is also on the board of directors for World Trade Center Utah. His clientele stretches across the globe and is represented in various industries, mainly relating to China, foreign direct investment, and web3. Jonathan has worked and consulted in the U.S., Asia, and South America, and he is fluent in Chinese and Cantonese and is adding Spanish to his language capabilities as more companies develop their China +1 strategy involving LatAm. Jonathan enjoys helping founders and companies navigate emerging and difficult industries, especially in cross-border projects. He is an expert in the fast-moving and complex web3 ecosystem, mostly focusing on business and regulatory issues surrounding decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), smart contracts, decentralized finance (DeFi), cryptocurrencies, coins, and tokens, including non-fungible tokens (NFTs).  

Simon Malinowski (New York- Partner) Simon advises developers, investors, contractors, and design professionals across all stages of the property development process, including: condominiums; multi-family rental properties; retail developments; mixed-use developments; and special projects. Simon was for four years straight named a New York State “Rising Star” real estate attorney by Super Lawyers. 

Simon provides comprehensive legal services covering all aspects of commercial property ownership, from leases to refinancing to renovating. Simon is especially valued by our clients for his incisive writing and shrewd negotiating skills, as well as for his extensive experience handling construction access agreements through proactive negotiation and RPAPL §881 petitions.  

Before starting as a real estate lawyer in New York City, Simon played a key role in the formation of our firm’s cannabis practice by drafting the documents that in the early days of legalization quickly became the seminal legal framework for operating a cannabis dispensary. Simon’s experience navigating newly enacted cannabis legislation, combined with his finance and real estate expertise, provides our clients with significant advantages in New York’s developing cannabis market.  

Jesse Mondry (Portland – Partner) is a litigator who represents individuals and businesses in commercial litigation matters that range from business torts, closely held company disputes, to a wide range of contract matters. Jesse recently won a 10-day jury trial in an $8 million dollar case involving the purported merger of over 20 California and Oregon companies. Mondry has over a decade of experience representing small businesses as well as Fortune 100 companies in litigation matters. His strategic and results-oriented approach to litigation has led to numerous positive outcomes for clients.   

Griffen Thorne (Los Angeles – Partner) is a corporate attorney who represents clients in business acquisitions and dispositions, real estate transactions, equity and debt finance transactions, technology, and intellectual property transactions, and on regulatory and licensing matters. For the third year in a row, Super Lawyers chose Griffen as a California Rising Star, and he was also chosen to the Top 200 Global Psychedelic Lawyers and Policy & Regulatory Experts list two years running.
