POSITION
We’re seeking an experienced Head of Government Affairs to assist the Chief Development Officer in the pursuit of retail expansion opportunities in California and other states. The Head of Government Affairs will interact with local elected officials and staff to seek opportunities for Shryne Group to expand its operations in California and other states. Cannabis industry experience is not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Builds and maintains professional relationships with members of local and state government entities and agencies.
- Researches and monitors government activities that could affect the organization’s business and clients.
- Creates strategies to influence local and state regulations in a manner aligned with the company’s objectives.
- Identify appropriate local lobbyists to assist in furthering the company’s objectives.
- Assists senior management and leadership with strategic planning for known and potential regulatory activities related to the business and industry.
- Supervise other employees to execute the company’s objectives.
- Introduces legislative and public policy changes that will support company operations.
- Collaborates with industry advocates to build areas of common interest.
- Testifies before government committees in support of the organization and/or industry.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Past experience in a senior government affairs or government relations role.
- Strong understanding of the workings of local government.
- Strong government contacts at local and/or state levels.
- Ability to plan and execute strategies required to influence government decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five years of experience in advocacy or public policy required.
SALARY
Based on experience.
