About the Role:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Research & Development to join their dynamic team in Lisbon, Portugal. Ideally, you’ll possess experience leading cannabis product development teams in the U.S. or Canada, bringing valuable insights and best practices to the European market. You will play a pivotal role in driving the creation of innovative and high-quality cannabis products tailored for European consumers. Leveraging your expertise and leadership skills, you will guide a team of researchers and scientists in creating market-leading products that meet the evolving needs of European cannabis users.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Research & Development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Develop and implement a strategic R&D plan aligned with the company’s overall business goals, specifically targeting the European cannabis market.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and consumer preferences in Europe.
- Oversee the development of new cannabis products, from concept ideation to product launch.
- Manage and collaborate with external vendors and research partners (e.g., universities, laboratories) within the European market.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and quality control standards in the European cannabis market.
- Stay up-to-date on scientific advancements and technological innovations within the global cannabis industry.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a research and development leadership role within the cannabis industry.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and launching innovative cannabis products in the U.S. or Canada (preferred).
- Strong understanding of cannabis science, cultivation methods, extraction processes, and relevant regulations in both North American and European markets.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and inspire a team of researchers and scientists.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in research methodologies and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in Portuguese is a plus.
