Donald Trump has reportedly said he would support legal action against Prince Harry if the royal is found to have lied about his drug use on his US visa application.
According to the MailOnline, the former US president is considering taking action if the Duke of Sussex was not truthful about his past drug use when applying to live in California with his wife, Meghan.
Anyone caught lying on a visa application can face up to five years in prison or deportation. Harry, who moved to the US in 2022, admitted in his 2023 memoir Spare that he had used cocaine, marijuana and magic mushrooms in the past. He also wrote that he would have required a “visa waiver” due to his drug history.
Mr Trump’s alleged comments come after he previously ruled out deporting Harry, joking that being married to the former actress was punishment enough.
“I don’t want to do that, I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife,” he is alleged to have said. “She’s terrible. I think poor Harry is being led around by the nose.”
He added: “I think William is a great young man.”
However, Trump is reportedly open to revisiting the issue, with sources suggesting he may take legal action if the prince is found to have broken immigration laws.
A source said: “President Trump has made it very clear that if Harry is found to have not told the truth on his visa application, then he could face prosecution.
“If Harry answered the drugs question truthfully, that would have triggered a visa waiver process whereby he would have been interviewed and given a waiver. If that is the case, the public has a right to know.”
