Grant Smith-Ellis has the latest administrative cock-up at the Massachusetts CCC

Deeply concerning news to report from the conclusion of today’s CCC meeting (which, at just over two hours in length, was one of the shortest agency meetings of all time);
An applicant for the open posting of CCC Executive Director applied after the deadline for the position had closed, was allowed to do so by only two Commissioners, and this person was not disclosed to other Commissioners on the CCC until a question was posed by Commissioner Kimberly Roy at public meeting on Thursday.
This late applicant then moved forward in the application process without an internal notation inn the system.
It was also announced that acting CCC Chair Ava Concepcion is trying to rush the hiring process of the agency’s next Executive Director to happen as soon as possible (perhaps even before state lawmakers can hold a series of previously announced public hearings into the beleaguered regulatory juggernaut).
My sources say this is to avoid legislative, and OIG, oversight into the process.

This is a developing story, and I will have more as the CCC meets a few times next week for minor regulatory discussions (as to CCC governance and the public release of Executive Session minutes, forced by the OIG, as to the CCC’s internal governance charter) and to continue its Executive Director screenings.
