Hong Kong: Man arrested in Tai Po village in HK$470,000 cocaine bust

A 25-year-old man was arrested as police seized about HK$470,000 worth of cocaine during an anti-narcotics operation in Tai Po village on Wednesday night.

After intelligence analysis, Sha Tin police mounted the operation in Wai Tau Tsuen last night and caught the man in possession of about 52 g of suspected cocaine.

Police further seized about 427 g of suspected cocaine and some drug paraphernalia in a unit rented by the man.

After preliminary investigation, the man, Yu, was arrested for trafficking in a dangerous drug. He is remanded in custody. The case is now being handled by the Sha Tin district special duties team.

Police warned that drug trafficking is a serious criminal offense and the maximum penalty carries a HK$5 million fine and life imprisonment.
