The Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration, with support from the Metropolitan Police Department, shut down an illegal cannabis business in Northwest D.C. on Monday, citing public health and safety concerns.
All the Buzz DC, located at 3232 Georgia Avenue NW, was ordered to close by the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Board after it was found to be operating without a license. ABCA Enforcement personnel, accompanied by officers from MPD’s Violent Crime Suppression Division, padlocked the doors and secured the premises.
Illegal products seized
During the operation, investigators discovered a significant cache of illegal cannabis products. A search warrant led to the seizure of more than 26 pounds of marijuana, 35 pounds of THC-laced edibles, 325.5 grams of THC vape cartridges, 176 grams of mushroom edibles containing entheogenic substances, and 68 grams of THC wax.
The property owners have the right to request a hearing before the ABC Board. To regain access to the property, they may be required to submit a remediation plan outlining steps to prevent future illegal cannabis sales. Additionally, the ABC Board can impose fines of up to $10,000 per property owner.
DC crackdown on illegal weed shops
All the Buzz DC is the 17th illegal cannabis business shut down since the Medical Cannabis Conditional License and Unlicensed Establishment Closure Clarification Emergency Amendment Act of 2024 took effect in July. The law grants ABCA enhanced authority to enforce compliance with cannabis licensing regulations.
Since the law’s enactment, ABCA has issued 41 cease-and-desist orders and 97 warning letters to unlicensed cannabis businesses that failed to apply for medical cannabis licenses during the open application period.
